Omega’s famous Speedmaster ’57, first introduced in 2013, returns in 2022, now with a Master Chronometer upgrade and slimmer profile. The downsizing to a diameter of 40.5mm and a height of 12.99 mm was made possible thanks to the new Master Chronometer caliber 9906 with manual winding.
The new Speedmaster ’57 offers a power reserve of 60 hours and is equipped with a sophisticated column-wheel chronograph mechanism. The movement, which is a feast for the eyes, is displayed through the exhibition case back. The refined decorations include the Omega Replica typical Geneva Waves in Arabesque and the blackened screws, barrels and balance wheel. Like all modern Omega movements, it is Master Chronometer-certified and is anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss.
The new collection consists of eight stainless-steel models that are offered in intriguing colorways and with matching leather straps or a bracelet. The latter is inspired by the Apollo 11 tribute launched in 2019, and equipped with Omega’s patented comfort release adjustment system.
There’s a “sandwich“ black dial edition with recessed hour markers filled with vintage Super-LumiNova, as well as three execution with PVD dials, in blue, green and a new varnished burgundy. All of them feature the typical broad-arrow hour hand, a two-register layout and are framed by a tachymeter scale on the notably slim bezel.
